Blues for the Red Sun is a 1992 (see 1992 in music) album by stoner rock band Kyuss. It is named after episode five of Carl Sagan's Cosmos, entitled "Blues for a Red Planet". It is one of the earliest pioneering recordings in stoner metal, a bass-heavy, grungey form of heavy metal. The album is considered a classic of stoner rock, along with Monster Magnet's Spine of God and Sleep's Holy Mountain. In 2001 the album was featured in Q magazine's list of the 50 Heaviest Albums Of All Time.
