In humanities class we learned about an earthquake that happened shortly after the drive to build bigger and taller churches. This earthquake happened at around 11-12 sunday morning and as a result many churches collapsed killing many.
I don't remember anything more, but I'm sure the term bloody sunday refers to many more later events as well as the ones currently listed.

Could someone author an article explaining the origins of the term 'bloody sunday' itself?
