[edit] Fuel
As of 2008, Blount is fueled by coal and pre-consumer paper waste. MGE plans to refuel the facility to more expensive, but cleaner natural gas in 2011. From 1979 to 1993 the facility burned refuse derived fuel diverting waste from the local landfill and generating electricity with it. It also test burned switchgrass in 1995 and 1996.[1]
[edit] Units
Blount has nine boilers and six steam turbines.
