[edit] Blinky Ltd
I checked out the web site and there is such a company that does sell 'blinkies'. They are actually quite neat little toys that flash a message or logo on a key chain whenever they are in light. These devices, however, are totally unlike the 'blinkies' listed here. The 'blinkies' described here have been called such for over 10 years and if Blinky Ltd ever tried to sue over 'trademark infringement' they would probably quickly find themselves counter sued by a dozen companies, and eventually have their right to brand their product 'the only, or official blinky' revoked.
It seems a dodgy ploy to capture search engine hits from people looking for these devices, but conversely their devices might actually be better as promo items than the classic blinkies.

[edit] Plural
- Shouldn't the plural of Blinky be Blinkies? In the article it is always written Blinkys...Zisimos 19:48, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Most places sell more than one kind, and most people buy more than one at a time so the term 'blinkies' is used more often. I don't think one is supposed to make articles about plural things so I did 'blink' for the title.

[edit] References
- I can't find any references for these. All I can say is they exist, I've bought hundreds of them, and there are dozens of online companies (see next) that sell them. I'm a little raw here but I think it's a little uptight to force me to reference something so trivial as opposed to something scientific or politically controvertial.

[edit] Other Companies
- I really hate giving just one company as an example but they do have the biggest selection I've seen, and that's practically all they sell
[edit] Title
I chose blinky over all the other names because the sites that sell the most (or only blinkies) usually use that name. In the industry, Body Lights usually implies ONLY the magnetic version and also usually excludes rings, pendants and other similar things, that function almost exactly the same. Blinky itself produced over 700k results which were impossible to separate the 'blinky toy' from 'blinky everything else'.
