This article needs to be edited to be more general and to remove the specific manufacturer's materials to a separate article. It reads like a defense of the patent. - PKM 00:13, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

I dont know about this IP case, but some general observations on patents surely raise some questions here.

Since patents only last 20 years, private ownership of the blanket stitch machine mechanism patent is not possible. Expired patents can not be 'renewed'.

Often a manufacturer will make small changes over the years, and patent some of the changes so that it can claim ongoing ownership, however the only thing owned in this case are any patented alterations in the last 20 years. Tabby (talk) 11:34, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
