Dairy farming.. Since around 2000 there has been a rapid decline in dairy farming. Most dairy farms have converted to arable because the price of milk at the farm gate has fallen to uneconomic levels. References -- Blackmore Vale magazine, Western Gazette, personal observation as a resident of Gillingham for the last 14 years.
