Français : « De gueules au vaisseau d'or, habillé d'argent, voguant sur une mer de sinople, au chef d'azur, chargé de trois fleurs de lis d'or ».
Blasonnement des armes traditionnelles de la ville de La Rochelle, dont l'origine remonte officiellement à 1355, tel que rapporté par Malte-Brun, dans La France illustrée (1884) sous la devise Servabor rectore Deo (Je serai sauvé sous la garde de Dieu). La ville a aujourd'hui également pour devise « La Rochelle, belle et rebelle ».
English: This picture shows the blazon from the coat of arms of La Rochelle, used since 1355, as it was described by Victor Adolphe Malte-Brun in La France illustrée (1884).
