[edit] Summary
This is the cover of Black Sun Rising, a book by C.S. Friedman. I'm submitting the amazon image of the paperback because I can find no image of the hardcover version. Amazon image is here: [1]
[edit] Fair use rationale
I, Nihiltres, believe that the use of this copyrighted book cover constitutes fair use because:
- No free equivalent is available -it's a book cover.
- The use of the image on Wikipedia is completely nonprofit and public.
- The image, (especially because it is the only image on that page as of this being written (05:15, 18 November 2006 (UTC))) contributes significantly to the article.
- The image is only a low-resolution copy of the cover.
- The use of the image will not foreseeably hurt demand for the book or decrease any associated values.
[edit] Licensing
This image is of a book cover, and the copyright for it is most likely owned either by the artist who created the cover or the publisher of the book. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of book covers
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Other use of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, might be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. |
