Prof. Blagoj Shklifov (Bulgarian: Проф. Благой Шклифов), was born in the Chereshnica village, Greece in 1935.
In 1948, at the end of the Greek Civil War, he left his burned village and went to Hungary, with many refugees from Aegean Macedonia. In 1964, he went to Bulgaria and studied at Sofia University "St. Clement of Ohrid". In his books, he claimed that the Slavs in Aegean Macedonia are in fact, Bulgarians. For this reason, he was not permitted to enter Greece for 40 years. At the end of September 2003, he went to the Serres region to collect linguistical data where his car was smashed by unknown car without lights and he was denied medical care in the local hospital. His colleagues suspect he was murdered by the Greek Secret Services or by ultranationalistic organizations.

The professor worked in the sphere of linguistics and Bulgarian dialects. He scientifically proved that the dialects in Aegean Macedonia are part of the Bulgarian dialect system.
