Blackwater, Isle of Wight

Blackwater is a village on the Isle of Wight. It is located three kilometres south of Newport, close to the geographic centre of the island.
British pop artist Robbie Williams once visited Blackwater for three nights to get away from the media. Carisbrooke Castle is close to Blackwater.
Newport Junction Railway opened a railway station at Blackwater. The Blackwater station first appeared on railway timetables in June, 1876. The Blackwater railway station operated until June 6, 1956.
Current public transport is provided by Southern Vectis bus routes 2 and 3, serving Newport, Ryde, Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor.[1][2] Wightbus also run route 33 between Newport and Ryde, serving the village.[3]
