Blackwater (An Abhainn Dubh in Irish) is a rural village in the southeastern corner of Ireland. It is situated in County Wexford, on the R742 regional road 16 km (10 mi) north of the town of Wexford.
[edit] Amenities
The village has four pubs, Corrigans, the Blackwater Lodge (which is also a hotel), Whelan's and Seanie's (which has undergone several name changes in recent years). It also has a video Arcade called the Glider.
Lately the village has increased its population, and has seen the building of hundreds of houses in the village itself and in outlying areas.
Blackwater is very close to Ballyconnigar beach, a site with one of the highest levels of erosion due to tidal forces. This beach is close to Curracloe strand, where the opening scene of the film "Saving Private Ryan" was filmed.
