Blackburn is a small town in West Lothian, Scotland with a population of approximately 4800. It is situated about 20 miles from Edinburgh along the old M8 towards Glasgow.

Blackburn means "the black burn (stream)", from Old English blæc "black" and burna "stream". The name was recorded as Blachebrine in 1152.
