Hey, I do appreciate your work about district courts in the US, but it would be very nice if you could add some more information about those courts to make the articles useful. If you don't have more infos, then don't mind me, someone else will fix it then. Have fun with that! I greatly appreciate it that they are added to a category, good work. greetings, Lady Tenar 21:29, 20 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Nice work on politics-related articles. Much like yourself, I'm a (now former) history student living in the NYC area, born in the mid 80s and celebrating a birthday this week. Keep up the good work Paul 02:28, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

I put a message on the talk page I would like you to check. Thx. David 06:05, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Congressional districts
I guess the sticking point was that a district can change its number without changing its boundaries. For instance, John Conyers' Detroit-based district has remained basically the same since he was first elected in 1964--it just changed numbers from the 1st to the 14th after the 1990 Census. And Chuck Schumer's Brooklyn-Queens district (now held by Anthony Weiner) changed numbers three times in his tenure. I figure the best solution is to put a listing of the congressmen who have held that particular seat on the current holder's page. This would also clear up the confusion with people whose original districts were eliminated and ended up running in a brand-new district (Newt Gingrich and Tim Holden immediately come to mind).
See Sue Myrick's page (my congresswoman--as one Dem to another, ick) for an example.Blueboy96 16:09, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think that's a good idea. It seems like a more appropriate place to treat districts based in a particular geographical area whose numbers change over time. The boundaries of these districts do change over time but if you can trace a basic core of a district (that almost always includes a representative's place of residence) back through time than the pages of representatives are a good place to do it
- My condolences about Sue Myrick. My district (represented by Gregory W. Meeks) is so overwhelmingly Democratic that Republicans haven't bothered running anyone in it in the last four elections. Bjoel5785 16:30, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] By Guess or by...
Guess, I guess. Harumph! (and Howdy) I just stumbled into United States Congressional Delegations from New York thanks to Edward Murphy edits creating a disambig from a redirect, and would suggest that this page needs some explainatory reference to 1st Class and 3rd Class. I would infer this might be some mystical shorthand, perhaps coined by evil speciialists in some darker region of Academia, perhaps in the hinterlands of Poly-Sci, but which notation is relatively unknown outside said specialty. In sum, it sucks in a publication that is supposed to edify and enlighten by failing the understandability test. Codes and abbreviations such as this are really a tad overzealous, and would be nearly incomprehensible to any foreign reader, not to mention many if not most twelve year olds. I'd suggest an italicized introductory definition by template for all such pages wherein such minutia is being tabulated using such cryptology. Best regards // FrankB 19:19, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm taking a break from wikipedia right now - I was spending way too much time on this site. Those unexplained terms were there prior to my first edits on the page and I believe that's how it's done on all 50 of the state congressional delegation pages. I think Markles works on the templates for those pages - he might be able to help you. - Bjoel5785 23:53, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm about 70% sure that 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class denote which election cycle the Senate seat is normally up for election. I don't know if it every gets rebalanced, but I would think not, that the assignment is made when the state enters the Union, and goes on indefinitely. Yes, it's probably too arcane and needs a key or something. --studerby 17:49, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Upcoming NYC Meetup
You wanted to know when the next meetup was being organized in New York City. Plan for Saturday, 9 December 2006. While you're at it. Come help us decide on a restaurant. See: Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC. Spread the word. Thanks. —ExplorerCDT 22:51, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Loring M. Black, Jr.
The tags I placed on Loring M. Black, Jr. are hardly unncessary, but to ensure that the article gets furnished with more information so it rises above stub class. The {reflist} tag is for if and when someone decides to add information that they will need to cite, the {reflist} tag will automatically generate a list. It is best to keep it for posterity. --Ozgod 22:10, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
I cite my source and one of your tags claims that I do not (if you'll bother to read the tag you posted you'll note that it only refers to information already on the page, not information that future users will add). The other tag is unnecessary since I already classified the article as a stub - I'm going to leave that one in the spirit of compromise since it's technically correct. --Bjoel5785 01:16, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- But you keep deleting the Reference section - when you use the <ref tags, having the {reflist} tag will automatically generate a list - you keep deleting this section. I will be putting it back in. --Ozgod
Your changes strike me as superfluous based on my experience with former US Representatives but I'll leave them since they don't disrupt the aesthetics of the page as much as your initial edit. --Bjoel5785 03:13, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
