Bismarck-Mandan refers to the metropolitan area (known as the "Bismarck, ND Metropolitan Statistical Area") in North Dakota that includes the twin cities of Bismarck and Mandan, the small suburb of Lincoln, and several small nearby "bedroom communities". The cities of Bismarck and Mandan straddle the Missouri River. As of March 27, 2008, the US Census estimates the area has 103,242 people. Bismarck is the capital of North Dakota.
