Bismarck is a city in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,470 at the 2000 census.

Bismarck is located at (37.768750, -90.625165)[3].
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,470 people, 586 households, and 420 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,477.1 people per square mile (567.6/km²). There were 660 housing units at an average density of 663.2/sq mi (254.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.84% White, 0.20% African American, 0.20% Native American, 0.07% Asian, and 0.68% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.20% of the population.
There were 586 households out of which 33.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.9% were married couples living together, 13.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.3% were non-families. 24.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.85.
In the city the population was spread out with 25.6% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.4 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $24,583, and the median income for a family was $30,294. Males had a median income of $25,781 versus $18,417 for females. The per capita income for the city was $12,150. About 14.7% of families and 20.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 29.4% of those under age 18 and 14.7% of those age 65 or over.

[edit] Fire, rescue and fire response for medical emergency
Fire & EMS protection has skilled firefighters and highly trained members. All citizens are required to have a fire tag each year for fire protection. Without a fire tag, the citizen will get a bill for $500.00 an hour. Fire tags provide for the response of emergency equipment.
According to the Bismarck Firefighters, they have saved many lives since 1930 and train often to better the skills needed to protect the community.
