Coordinates: Birpur is a city and a notified area in Supaul district in the state of Bihar, India. It is a small town on the Indo-Nepal border near the historic Kosi Barrage on the Kosi River.

As of 2001 India census,[2] Birpur had a population of 17,730. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%.
