From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Biofunk as it is known is the idea that humans and machines will some day replace each others roles in the future. As machines become more and more complex they will learn to reason and possibly become self aware. During this time humans seem to be more and more mechanical in nature trying by doing the same processes over and over each day. Biofunk is the point at which machines and humans become equal partners in the future of the world in a way that does not exploit either of the two. Virginia Eubanks states: "In the computational universe, the machine becomes the primary metaphor for understanding the human."

Out of this inspirational idea came the project Biofunk. Biofunk was created in 1996 by the electronic audio artist Nick Kelly while working on several audio projects in Berkeley California. Biofunk continues to evolve and has current music online at http://www.myspace.com/biofunkrecords. Some of the projects recorded at this time can be researched at http://www.discogs.com/artist/Muon and http://www.discogs.com/artist/Nick+Kelly.
More research on this is forth coming.
