The VIII Biobío Region (Spanish: VIII Región del Biobío) is one of Chile's 15 first order administrative divisions. Its capital is Concepción. It comprises four provicenes, and is the second most important region of in the country, after the metropolitan area of Santiago. It is bordered to the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the east by Argentina, on the north by Maule Region, and on the south by Araucanía Region.
