BioRegional

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BioRegional is an entrepreneurial charity, which invents and delivers practical solutions for sustainability.

They:

• Develop sustainable products, services and production systems – and set up new enterprises and companies to deliver them

• Initiate and guide the development of sustainable communities

• Seek to replicate their approach through consultancy, communications and training.

Their aim is to lead the way to sustainable living – through practical demonstration.

BioRegional was founded (as BioRegional Development Group) in 1992. They believed that overconsumption of resources was the driving force behind environmental degradation, and they set out to find new ways to meet more of their needs from local resources – especially waste and renewable resources – in order to minimise the environmental impact of everyday goods and services.

Today, they are among the UK’s leading environmental entrepreneurs, developing pioneering sustainable communities, products, services and production systems – and establishing them as successful role models. Their solutions for sustainability are designed to enable people to enjoy a high standard of life, while living within their fair share of the Earth’s resources and leaving space for wildlife and wilderness.

BIOREGIONAL’S VISION

• BioRegional’s vision is for a future in which everyone can enjoy a high quality of life, while living within their fair share of the Earth’s resources and leaving space for wildlife and wilderness

BIOREGIONAL’S MISSION

BioRegional exists to help create vibrant regional economies and communities, in which we can live within our fair share of the Earth’s resources by using local, renewable and waste resources to meet more of our needs.

They achieve this by:

• Delivering viable, practical solutions for sustainability which make optimal use of local renewable and waste resources.

• Demonstrating that living within the Earth’s productive capacity can be easy, affordable and attractive.
