[edit] Errors in the article
Billy Pierce did not lead the league in shutouts with 7 in 1953. Bob Porterfield of the Washington Senators had 9. He was not tied for the lead in wins with Jim Bunning in 1955. It was 1957 that he tied Bunning of the Tigers for wins at 20. Billy did not pitch a shutout agains the Yankees in the 1962 World Series. He pitched a complete game 3 hitter, beating Whitey Ford and the Yankees 5-2. Billy did pitch a 3 hit shutout in the first game of a 3 game playoff with the Dodgers in 1962. There were no extended playoffs like today back then, in case of a tie at the end of the regular season, AL teams played one game, and in the NL it was best of 3. Those games were considered part of the regular season. Billy also came in for the save in the deciding game 3 against the Dodgers. Billy Pierce was a remarably good pitcher who has never received his just due. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.184.93.61 (talk) 16:59, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Everything should be fixed by now; I think some of the errors came from his BaseballLibrary page. MisfitToys (talk) 22:24, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
