I noticed there wasn't any discussion on third party billing since the time of divestiture. The latest incarnation of placing third party charges onto a bill has been the notion of allowing digital content purchased in an eCommerce fashion (real time authentications, authorizations, etc) to appear on the telephone bill. In this article, there are references to the three providers of this core service and a brief history as to how this came about.

Comments are welcome.

I should note that I ran the relevant history facts through a person who has been in this industry for 2o+ years and on several boards related to third party billing.

  • 1 This service is much like paypal
  • 2 All service providers of this type have been listed
  • 3 All service providers, based on their websites call the function Bill to Phone
  • 4 BSG is the largest provider of this service
  • 5 The article really focuses on the history of how this service came about and how it compares to credit card services
  • 6 There are legitimate websites using this service so if a user comes across this service, they would absolutely want to know how it works and what they are using. Hence an encyclopedic entry, and hence the completely unbiased nature of the entry.
  • 7 Many external references are provided to the service and its evolution

If there are things that can make it more valuable, I am definitely willing to listen to feedback. Thanks.

I would suggest that this article would benefit from a more balanced view. What are the shortcomings of the systems? What comparisons and contrasts are they with similar systems? Mallanox 13:52, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

A differences to credit card payments has been added from the perspective of the value chain. I don't believe that shortcomings should be added, as a whole discussion of benefits should then also be added. Both are highly dependent on the service provider which we are trying to avoid.
