Dr. William Gillis, MLA, best known as Bill Gillis, was Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly in Nova Scotia between 1970 and 1998. Dr. Gillis represented the riding of Antigonish until his retirement from Politics.
Gillis was a member of Cabinet, Executive Council in several capacities in the governments of Gerald Regan and Dr. John Savage, including Minister of Mines and Energy, Minister of Justice, and Minister of Finance.
Gillis holds a doctorate in geology from Pennsylvania State University and taught geology at Saint Francis Xavier university in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
