Bill Bailey (December 8, 1912) – (December 12, 1978),was an African American tap dancer, credited for inventing the dance known as the Moonwalk, although he referred to it as the "Backslide". He was also in the well known black and white film, Cabin In the Sky, starring Lena Horne. Bill Bailey was married to Pernell Bailey, and had 9 children, as well as many grandchildren.
