[edit] Those tables
Who ever is making those tables should really put the cities in the order they were played, it will make it look much neater. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.217.216.73 (talk) 10:12, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- I put them in general order of attendance within Australia, and have Auckland at the end because it's often got a different lineup, being a different country and all. If you feel really adamantly, you can try to move them about, but it's taken me ages. I've finally worked out a system to do it using excel, but it still takes about 15 minutes to get through each list (in and amongst everything else I'm doing). --lincalinca 10:49, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Is there a reason you unlink about half the bands when you put them into your tables? Pimlottc (talk) 23:26, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Updated with NZ bands and what bands are schedule to play in which cities. I left the background on the "No" uncolored since the color used on the other tables didn't look good with the background of the "Scheduled" cells. They can be changed to match after the shows. - Cool. I unlinked any duplicate links, I left every article that existed linked and removed red linked articles altogether, except those that are very likely to have an article created for them (i.e. bands that no longer exist and never really "made it" are not really likely to ever garner notability). I'll leave the redlinked NZ artists, since I'm hoping you'll create teh articles (I was going to be surreptition in suggesting you do it, but it seems you're investe3d enough that you could. I don't even know who half of them are. To note which artists are playing at whatever venues, you really need to indicate the source of the information. Can you post references please? --lincalinca 10:52, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, I hadn't realized how many bands have played multiple times over the years. The information on which artists are playing in which cities is included in the lineup announcement press releases on the BDO site. The website makes it difficult to link directly but I included a general link to the press release section. Pimlottc (talk) 06:08, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Page needs improvement
This page should not be classified as a top level 'Aust Music Festival' page - it should be just a sub page under the Big Day Out Page. By itself it just appears to be a 'link-spam' page. I removed the Category:Music festivals in Australia & Category:Music festivals in New Zealand tags. I left the other list tags, as they are appropriate. By having it as just a sub page off BDO, it is more in line with Wiki Policy. I won't waste my time challenging it at this time, since the Festival fans would probably want to keep this info.
Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not 2.4 Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files "Mere collections of internal links, except for disambiguation pages when an article title is ambiguous, and for lists to assist with the organisation of articles."
It should also be noted that the (list of lineups) page also has a header note "This page is 86 kilobytes long. It may be appropriate to split this article into smaller, more specific articles. See Wikipedia:Article size."

[edit] Stages
Maybe someone (not me because I can't be bothered) should put lists for each stage and put the artist who performed on them instead of the 1 big ugly ass list. Like with the Ozzfest and Download Festivles lists. WeLsHy (talk) 07:23, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
It's kinda hard to do that considering that it's not uncommon for bands to play on different stages in each city Cereal killer (talk) 10:12, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- I think it would be overkill to be honest. If people really want that kind of information, they should just go to bigdayout.com and check it out there. Just a list of who did/didn't play should be adequate for wikipedia in my opinion. hellboy (talk) 12:16, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Aphex twin cancellation?
The reason for Aphex Twin's cancellation in the 1999 date should be clarified below; it isn't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by McYaballow (talk • contribs) 20:51, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
