[edit] History

Bigtopp was formed in "late 2006" [1] comprising solely of pupils of Ditcham Park School. However, the majority of the band then moved to Havant College for A Levels, and in October 2006 Jonny Parkins (formerly of Portsmouth Grammar School) joined the band on trombone, and Sam Pycroft replaced James Ramsay as lead guitarist. Martin Parsons, the younger brother of frontman James, joined permanently soon after, and Taz Morra followed in early 2008 to complete the current line-up. March 2007 saw them win the Havant College Battle of the Bands off the back of their EP Glory Wipe[2], and March 2008 saw them repeat this performance with their most recent EP, Tomfoolery. It was here that DJ Sparky from Power FM mentioned that "Bigtopp are still carrying on the ska party in everyone's pants!", which has become the band motto. They have also played on the Saturday Main Stage at Bognor Rox, Bognor Regis.

On the 1st May 2008, Bigtopp won the regional finals of Live and Unsigned and will be performing in The 2008 Live and Unsigned National Grand Final.

Bigtopp are currently planning a UK tour [3] in August.
