BIG SONIC HEAVEN established in 1995 by DARREN REVELL
Big Sonic Heaven is a music program created, hosted and produced by Darren Revell.
Big Sonic Heaven had an eight year run from 1995-2003 on 96.3 FM (WHYT, WPLT, WDVD) in Detroit, Michigan. Big Sonic Heaven aired every Sunday evening for four hours and featured shoegazer, dream pop, trip-hop, brit-pop, and electronica by bands such as Ride, Medicine, The Cure, Dead Can Dance, Hooverphonic, Mojave 3, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Cocteau Twins and The Smiths.
Darren Revell made a significant impact in Detroit with his radio program, as there were very few radio shows that catered to this genre and its fans. He was instrumental in providing local talent with a venue to be heard as well.
Darren also hosted "Sugar Hiccup" in Royal Oak, MI every Wednesday evening.
Darren has revived "Big Sonic Heaven" on Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles, California in January 2007. The two hour program airs Mondays through Thursdays at 10pm. Playlists can be retrieved from the show's MySpace webpage.
