[edit] Parallels

I just reread Somewhere in Time shortly after rereading What Dreams May Come. Matheson evidently intended the two as companion pieces, and I've included a quote to that effect in the article. I did also notice many astonishing parallels between the two novels, but I won't put them in the article, since it would be original research. Instead, I'll list some of them here:

  • In both books, the protagonist's brother is named Robert, and he's unsure whether to believe the otherworldy events described in the protagonist's manuscript
  • The protagonist in both books is 6'2" and blond. (Maybe that's how Matheson once looked?)
  • In one book, the protagonist's name is Richard (like the author). In the other, the protagonist has a son named Richard.
  • The protagonists in both books are screenwriters living in Hidden Hills, California.
  • Both books contain moments that the narrator comments might have lasted a few seconds or several minutes.

There might be other examples, but these are ones that stuck out for me. marbeh raglaim 09:39, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
