Beyond the Beyond is a role-playing video game that was developed by Camelot Software Planning and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation in 1995. The music was composed by Motoi Sakuraba; it is one of his earlier, less notable works.

[edit] Gameplay
Gameplay in Beyond the Beyond is typical RPG fare for the most part. The main twist in the turn-based battles is the inclusion of an active system for critical hits and defense. In order to utilize this system, the player must quickly tap the X button while a character or enemy is attacking, to strengthen or weaken the blow, respectively.
Beyond the Beyond offers very few side quests or secret characters. Altogether, one can expect about 30-40 hours of gameplay, due to long, maze-like dungeons, frequent random encounters, and difficult bosses.
