This image divides the city by extrema. It could be argued that it would be better to divide the city by population, by still it is going to be hard to argue that Beverly is on the west side of the city.

[edit] Beverly Hills is the Official name

Why does it say that Beverly is occasionally called Beverly Hills. Actually it should be Beverly Hills is occasionally called Beverly. http://www.bapa.org/content.asp?contentid=26 The neighborhood association refers to it as Beverly Hills, —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.206.238.14 (talk) 16:19, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] South Side

I kind of like the Far South description. Beverly is clearly not in the western side of Chicago, and the South side usually refers to areas much closer to downtown.

Can you any references to show that Southwest is more appropriate than Raf South? ADH 02:59, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Look at the map in the article. It would seem to me that Community Areas 54 and 55 would fit the definition of "far south". And as for references, yes, I got the word southwest right out of an article in the Chicago Tribune about Beverly native Lance Ten Broeck. And, lastly, where did you learn to spell usually > ususlaly and far >raf.--Hokeman 15:29, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

By the same token 56 and 64 might qualify as southwest, but not Beverly.
I did a quick Google search test and many more articles refer to Beverly as South then Southwest. I'll consider changing it to south if you don't think that will confuse too many people who think of the 'south side as being more like 3000 to 6300 south. ADH 03:45, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
I see your point. I am in agreement that South side is better than Southwest; and I think your choice of South side is more accurate than Far South. --Hokeman 15:58, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Who lives here

I am going to remove these two phrases:

"Beverly is also home to some of the most wealthy Polish and other Eastern European as well as Black US citizens in America."

and

"Beverly is also home to some of the most wealthy Polish, Chinese, and Black US citizens in the Midwest."

It is fairly easy to document the presence of a relatively wealthy African-American population in the area. Looking at 2000 census data, zip code 60643 had a median African American household income of $46,555 and a child poverty rate among African Americans of 19.72%. These are above and below the total US averages respectively. There are 263 zip codes with 75% or more of the population comprised of African Americans having a total population of >5000. 60643 ranks 21st in median household income and 30th for child poverty. This was determined in my own quick census search using census.gov data sets. Objectively, this should at least meet the standard of "strong African American middle class".

Until someone makes a good argument for the relevance and references.

How many Greek people live in Beverly besides me and my family?

60643 also includes other neighborhoods. Beverly the neighborhood is spreaded across more than one zip code. 60620 and 60655 also includes parts of Beverly. So I don't think you can look at the census to tell much about the neighborhood. Bapa.org represents the neighbor numbers.
