Beverage Reef

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Beverage Reef is a sunken atoll in the South Pacific. No land at all, just a circular reef about 5 miles wide by 8 miles long with a little passage on the west side to go inside and be surrounded by breakers and ocean on all sides. It is speculated that fewer people have actually been inside this reef than to the top of Mt. Everest. The weather conditions have to be just perfect to go inside the reef. A wreck still visible on the reef is a testament to this. Once inside it is possible to anchor in water that is crystal clear and underwater visibility to depths approximating 200 ft. Snorkeling inside the reef may be experienced with sharks, fish and rays.
