The Mosque of Omar, Bethlehem, July 2005.

This photo is taken from outside the Church of the Nativity. The mosque is named after the Omar ibn Al-Khattab, who visited Bethlehem as an envoy of the Prophet Mohammad in 638 AD and is said to have prayed in this spot. The present building dates from 1860.
