Bettina Werner

Born in Milan, Italy in 1965, Bettina Werner is an internationally renowned artist. She studied at the prestigious Brera Academy of Fine Art. She has been living and working in New York City for many years.

Bettina Werner is known as the "Queen of Salt" for her pioneering and revolutionary use of salt in art. In the early 1980s she invented the "textured colorized salt technique," her salt artworks are recognized worldwide and are present among the most prestigious art collections in the US and Europe. She spent more then 20 years investigating the diverse possibilities of the medium and her research has been documented in numerous international Art exhibitions in Museums and Galleries.

In New York in 2002, she founded The Salt Queen Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational institution, its goals include the celebration of artists whose free imagination is uniquely expressed through the use of innovative techniques and unusual materials.

Her paintings, sculptures and environmental installations have been exhibited in Museums and galleries in Europe, in Russia and the Americas including: the Whitney Museum, New York, the Detroit Institute of Art, Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow, Portofino Museum, Italy, Triennale Museum in Milan, Chase Manhattan Bank, the collection of Herbert and Dorothy Vogel, the collection of Martin Margulies of Miami and the collection of Nicos Vernicos of Athens, Greece.
