Bethany, Kawartha Lakes, Ontario

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bethany is a Canadian village on Ontario's highway 7A, a few kilometers west of Peterborough, the region's largest city.

It is a gateway community, in that it services the local winter sport ski hill areas several kilometers north of the village. Since 2000 there has been significant real-estate development, mostly in the form of individual dwellings. To the north are downhill and cross-country ski areas, mostly accessible by paved county roads.

There is an annual fun weekend in the village's park for the May 24 holiday. The weekend normally consists of Friday fireworks and games, Saturday baseball, a Sunday car show, and an open parade and baking contest for citizens on Monday. In the summer there is usually an antique tractor show and roast beef dinner.
