If no-one has any objections... 1. Cut "Provenazo's New Mafia" as this can be found in the main Mafia article (or it should be!) 2. Cut "Division within Cosa Nostra" as it's just copied from other pages 3. Cut down "Succession" to just list the possible successors Lo Piccolo and Rotolo. I've made some minor linguistic corrections, but the whole artice seems a bit unwieldy. --Zeisseng 09:59, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

According to mob godmother-turned-informant Giuseppina Vitale, Provenzano appeared at a 1992 Cosa Nostra summit meeting dressed in the purple robes of a Catholic bishop.

It's not right according to several sites this happened in 1998

am I wrong?

[edit] 1992 or 1998?

When you are searching for "mafia" (organized crime) sources you can become very confused. There are many web sites and many diferent informations (the most about numbers). When I was searching for this information I didn`t see that this would happen in 1998 but that it happened in 1992. It depends how reliable your sources are. Can you write any internet adress where you found that this happened in 1998?

You never know anything for sure when it comes to organised crime because if we would know everything police would catch them and there will be no crime anymore.

[edit] They Got Him!

Wow. I'm surprised. I thought he'd never be caught.

[edit] Denying his identity?

  • snip* "After initially denying it, Provenzano admitted his identity" *snip*

He denied his identity? What source is this based off of? The only thing I read he said at his arrest was, "You have no idea what you have done."

Yeah I didn't hear anything about him denying his identity either and I've read just about every article on the internet about it. I wonder if when he said "You have no idea what you have done." that he meant because now the two mafiosi wanting to take his place will war and there will be far more bloodshed. He was kindof keeping the peace with his position. Alexbonaro

That is very to fix, just do what Duce Mussolini did. Throw every sicilian male into prison and order all roadside walls to be demolished to knee-height or less, so assasins cannot hide behind it. Confiscate all weapons from the population, build that damn bridge to Sicily and station a huge number of soldiers and police in the island. Brake the drinking water supply monopoly of the mafia (the bridge will have huge aquaduct transfer pipes) and actually enforce mandatory education on the children. In two decades mafia will be gone. If the mafia is left to live, Italy will split inevitably, the diligent and prosperous north will not tolerate the feudal and mad south destroy its industry and trade. I think when the Bossi league will federate with the swiss, south Italy will become a second Albania, blood revenge and donkey cart will be the norm. Italy is not a solid nation state as it seems. 195.70.32.136 18:54, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Let me guess, your family is from Northern Italy!

[edit] List of fugitives

I think having a link to the List of most wanted fugitives in Italy in the See also section of this article is useful. User:Mafia Expert has removed it. Anyone else care to weigh in? Mushroom (Talk) 20:13, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

An arrested criminal is not a fugitive anymore. You are creating confusion. The list itself will be difficult to maintain and can easily be replaced with a link to the actual fugitive list List of most wanted fugitives in Italy when it is relevant. I suggest the list to be deleted, see my comments on Talk:List of most wanted fugitives in Italy. - Mafia Expert 20:21, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Then please nominate it for deletion. Mushroom (Talk) 20:22, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
