Correction of "vet" to "vel": I had the same thought, but a Google search seemed to indicate that "et" is ok (and makes some sense, right?).

I have a problem with this statement: "[his conversion] illustrated the justice of Luther's description of justification by faith alone as the articulus stantis vel cadentis ecclesiae, the vital point whose acceptance or rejection drew everything else along with it." I know that the text comes from 1880, but this kind of bias is not proper in an open, nonpartisan encyclopedia. To claim that Luther's position is just is to accept his point of view as superior.
