[edit] The Beatles

Okay, so presumably Purdie has painted himself into a corner, first embellishing the probably true story about enhancing the Pete Best parts for the Tony Sheridan recording and then refusing to back down such that he was driven to making wilder and wilder claims, but why should seven-eighths of the wikipedia article about this brilliant, highly accomplished, and very widely recorded musician be devoted to this unfortunate and largely irrelevant unsavory topic? Let's trim the Beatles bit down, and let's talk about the things we know Purdie has done.

Whoops! It looks as if I forgot to sign the above posting. TheScotch 05:58, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Totally agree. Purdie is NOT famous for the Beatles' controversy but for being one of the few drummers every musician wants to work with. The article is about him, not others. Am relegating the section to Trivia.

Atlantic Records overdubbing

It was Atlantic Records that hired Purdie, not Polydor. Purdie probably added drumming to 3 tracks: Ain't She Sweet, Take Out Some Insurance, and Sweet Georgia Brown. A studio guitarist was brought in to overdub guitar on the last two tracks, in the case of Sweet Georgia Brown, the guitarist replaced Lennon and Harrison. The purpose for the overdubbing has never been explained.Upsiditus 02:41, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
