[edit] Tegel to close in 2011?

According to Berlin-Schönefeld International Airport Tegel is scheduled to close in 5 years. Is this true, and if so shouldn't it be mentioned in this article? --03:18, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Military Airfield during Cold War?

Was Berlin-Tegel an Allied military airfield during the early part of the Cold War? Perhaps French?--TGC55 10:28, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Found answer - Tegel was a French military airfield - see RAF Gatow section 1, History.--TGC55 18:56, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Comment

When I took a flight from Stockholm-Arlanda Airport to Berlin-Tegel International Airport, the first thing I saw after going through customs was a sex shop. This was even before I had any idea of how to get to the city centre. Fortunately, going outside Terminal E and to the main terminal area solved this problem. JIP | Talk 21:46, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] History

Have subsumed and referenced all historical facts about Berlin-Tegel under a new "History" section. Have also corrected factually incorrect information and included additional information about Tegel Airport's development when it was under the control of the Western Allies of World War II during the Cold War era. Have added some more info about accidents/incidents involving commercial flights that were due to terminate/had originated at TXL as well as the numerous incidents involving LOT's domestic services in Poland, which were taken over by hijackers and forced to make an "unscheduled" visit to TXL. Is there someone who can add in the post-reunification history of the airport after it was returned to Germany? We need to add in how the air traffic control changes and etc. --JNZ (talk) 02:37, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Have added some facts regarding the immediate post-reunification era (1990-1994). Still need to add an additional reference from where I took some of that info. Will do it later today. Pimpom123 13:04, 07 March 2008 (GMT)
Have now completed adding all relevant references. Pimpom123 17:17, 07 March 2008 (GMT)
