[edit] Summary

Photo by R. W. Rynerson, Winter 1969-70 shows Armored Personnel Carrier and Jeep of the 4th Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army's Berlin Brigade passing through a Berlin-Zehlendorf residential street intersection under the eyes of a soldier from Headquarters Company of that unit. Alerts occurred monthly as a training exercise, but occasionally additional alerts signalled the receipt of intelligence information on Warsaw Pact maneuvers around the isolated city.
