[edit] Theory of European races
Bertil Lundman's book The Races and Peoples of Europe distinguishes several racial types (older synonyms in brackets)[1]:
- Nordid (Nordic), including the subraces Falid, North Atlantid (North-Occidental) and Scandid
- Paleo-Atlantid
- West-Alpine
- East-Alpine (Gorid)
- West-Mediterranean (Ibero-Insular)
- Berid
- East-Mediterranean, including the subraces Saharid and Pontid
- Arabid, including the Syrid subrace
- Dinarid (Dinaric), including subraces Armenid and Carpathid (Litoral)
- Volgid, including the subraces Sudeten and Pre-Pontid
- East Baltid, including the subraces Tavastid (Sub-Nordid) and Savolaxid
- Scando-Lappid (South-Lappid, Samid)
- Mongolid strains: Kumid and Taigid
[edit] Rival theorists
Bertil Lundman is not the only person to have formed a racial classification system of Europeans. Another such person is Carleton S. Coon.
