Bert Baxter

Bertram 'Bert' Baxter (1892-1998) is a character in the series of Adrian Mole books, originally appearing in the first book in the series, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13¾, as the eighty-nine-year-old pensioner Adrian looks after as part of his Good Samaritan tasks. Despite the fact that Bert is rude, crass, a Communist and owns a vicious Alsatian called Sabre, Adrian becomes fond of him.
Bert finally dies sometime between Adrian Mole: The Wilderness Years and Adrian Mole: The Cappuccino Years, he dies, after a stairlift accident, as the oldest man in Leicester, at the age of 105 - the day before his 106th birthday.
In the 1985 television adaptation of the books, the character was played by Bill Fraser.
