Berne (district)

The District of Berne (German: Amtsbezirk Bern) is an administrative district in the canton of Berne, Switzerland. It has an area of 233 km² and a population of 237,919 (as of January 2005).
Its capital is the city of Berne, which contains around half the population. The district consists of thirteen municipalities:
