Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Gedenkstätte Berlin-Hohenschönhausen (Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial) has operated since 1994 on the site of the main remand prison of the former East German Ministry of State Security (MfS), or 'Stasi'.
It is located in the former Berlin borough of Hohenschönhausen, now in Lichtenberg.
The Memorial's charter focuses it on "methods and consequences of political persecution and suppression" in the prison and the nation.
Visitors may tour in groups only; English-speaking guides are available.
