Talk:Benguela railway
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] It's the Benguela Railway with a capital R.
"Benguela Railway" is the name in English of the railway and the company, it should have a capital 'R'. It's not just a railway that's in Benguela. You don't write 'caminho de ferro de Benguela' in Portuguese. Rexparry sydney 23:57, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Why is there a mixture of "railway" and "railroad" in the text. I am changing everything to "railway".--AssegaiAli 14:50, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
I have made some changes to emphasise that the railway was part of the development of a region with very primitive facilities - it was a definite hinterland, not just "the interior" and as it happened the railway provided a spur for considerable agricultural development in the 1940s up to 1975 in the Bie plateau that was isolated and lacking in modern facilities. Also the railway's profitability benefited everybody, not just the "Colonial Powers" so I have changed the wording there.--AssegaiAli (talk) 21:34, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
