The Nom Foundation gives 津䓡 (the second character apparently little used), while the Chinese Wikipedia gives 檳椥. Badagnani (talk) 06:07, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

I have serious doubts about the correctness of these characters. I want to see some real usage before they are added to the article. If they're not in any documents, adding them to the article seems to be useless. DHN (talk) 19:31, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

津䓡 was just sent to me by a specialist Han tu/Chu nom researcher in Vietnam. I don't know what his sources were, but probably from old atlases or books. However, the generally accepted meaning of the name of this toponym seems to match with these characters rather than the ones used by Chinese Wikipedia. The edit summary for the blanked characters said "Chinese" but, in fact, these are Vietnamese characters (the way it is not proper to call kanji "Chinese characters." Such blanking is unhelpful to our users who are interested in the etymology of place names (which we provide for all other nations in the world). Badagnani (talk) 19:34, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

You should ask him for the sources or he might have misinterpreted your query as "How would so-and-so be rendered in Chu Nom?" instead of "How was so-and-so written in Chu Nom?" DHN (talk) 19:38, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
