Greetings from Hawaii !!

Notice Aloha, Bella Swan! Awesome93 would like to give you a shaka! A shaka is a hand gesture used in Hawaii to say "Hi" and show common courtesy. Please sign with three tildes if you have received this message at Wikipedia:WikiProject Hawaii/Shaka.

You can pass on the Hawaiian spirit by placing {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Hawaii/Shaka|Your username here}} on somebody else's talk page. Aloha!

Looking for an Adopter

Hi, I am new to editing on Wikipedia and would like to work on specific areas, ones that I don't see in any of the Wiki projects: award winning novelists, poets and playwrights (those that have won pulitzers, nobels, hugos, nebulas, Newberys, Caldecotts, Edgars, etc.) I looked through all of the Adopters in the Adoptees area and your description seemed the best match for the kind of help I need. Then I looked at your user page and found that you are even a better choice than I first thought.

A bit about me; I am in North Carolina, an LDS member, a read-a-holic, an incessant collector of quotes and a grandfather. I'm also writing a novel. I created a quote-a-day for the Journal product, which I use, and I made the author credits into links to the associated page on Wikipedia. During this process I noticed a lack of common information on pages that I expected to be much more complete (missing lists of works and/or no links to reviews on those works, missing pictures, little to no biographical information). So I thought I would spend a bit of time trying to improve those pages and I want to do it the right way. Now I know that what I want to do falls more under biography rather than novels, but the biography people seem to be more interested in public and historically prominent people (as long as they didn't write anything). And I find that there is an Entertainment area, but again, there seems to be no connection to award winning writers.

So, what do you say, think you could adopt me for awhile and get me pointed on the right path?

Thanks-

Yea! I have a user page now.

Thank you for adopting me. I created a user page and put a bit on it. The picture at the top is one I took of the smoky mountains and is now available at wiki to use. I don't have much up yet, but I do have the adoptee marking on the page.

As you may notice, I altered my signature, since I noticed you have a nice script look to yours. I am using Rage Italic (I hope it looks like a cursive script to you, if not please let me know).

So here is my first question: how do I get rid of the extra link pointers in my signature so it will be nice and neat like yours? The links all work, I just want to get rid of the duplicate icons. I did the entry for my signature like this: [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ajacques1951 -Al Jacques] ([http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Ajacques1951#top talk]) (the text is still turned into links in this message along with the reference icons - though I used html entities in place of the brackets)

Now, my first serious "how do I do this right on WikipediA" question:

I have done a minor edit on the Geraldine Brooks page (I put the list of works in correct chronological order) and I contacted her publicist to ask for a picture that could be put on the page. She sent me a picture (.jpg) that is used on the author's contact page and told me I could use it as long as I included a photo credit for the photographer. Is that all I need? Can I upload the picture on behalf of the photographer and use the free-license CC-BY like I did on my own photo?

-Thanks

Thanks! I'll definately check it out. So what do you think of the cast now? I'm really unsure, I don't think it was cast all that well, but i'm definately seeing it!--Sophiakorichi (talk) 18:40, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Twilight wikia

Thank you for the heads up on the Twilight Wikia. I will definitely consider joining!--yours truly, Edgar Allen Poe 18:59, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
