[edit] History

The airline was established and started operations on 3 November 2001. It was formed on the demise of the SAirGroup out of its leisure carrier Balair by one of Balair's largest customers Hotelplan, who now wholly own Belair. It has 132 employees[1].

In March 2007, airberlin acquired a 19% shareholding in Belair, owned by tour operator Hotelplan, to enable an increase in its activities in the Swiss market.[2] Since then, Belair belongs to the airberlin group (as LTU and Niki), operating low cost medium and long-haul flights, mostly to touristic destinations.
