Description

Original caption states: Beit-el-Ajaib (The House of Wonders) The House of Wonders is the most imposing structure on the sea front in Stonetown. Built in the 1880's as a ceremonial palace and was used as headquarters of the colonial administration. It was later converted into a school and as a museum for the ruling party after the Revolution. The House of Wonders was the first ever to use electricity and utilize the use of the "lift" to the amazement of the local people - hence it is called the House of Wonders.
