[edit] Hardcore fans

hardcore fans, those are fans that listen to hardcore, right? That's poorly worded. Dawhitfield 14:59, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

~Hmmm...no. Hardcore could be like....Intensely loyal, die-hard fans of the 'old' Behemoth who were dissapointed by the change that the band underwent and therefore felt that the band had 'sold out'...something like that? I don't really think it's relevant to Hardcore music.

It's obvious that it refers to what the person above me said. It's easy to distinguish between the two especially since the band have nothing to do with the Hardcore scene. --Xdiabolicalx 19:48, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Hardcore fan is just another term for die-hard fan Youstolemyturtle

[edit] Satanic?

Is this band vaguely Satanic? (Uta 18:59, 25 May 2007 (UTC))

For lack of a better term, yes. The band is based around Pagan beliefs, but they do have a pretty considerable amount of Satanic references and references to religious texts (The Apostasy inner sleeve featured a quote from the Hymn to Lucifer by Aleister Crowley). So, yes, vaguely Satanic is probably the most accurate statement. Mister Deranged 23:55, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Well this band is definitely anti-christian, like most other bands in the extreme metal scene. Bopash4 03:54, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Nah, they worship money first and foremost. In seriousness, though, they're pretty much just occultists who take "beliefs" from everything. --Korey Kaczynski 06:53, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Behemoth - well, at least Nergal himself - practice Thelema, the occult belief spearheaded by Aleister Crowley in the 20th Century. Crowley himself in turn, borrowed from other religions in his attacks on Christianity (for instance, both Set (Egyptian) and Baphomet are deities in Thelema, and he reffered to himself as 'the Beast'), just as Behemoth do. - Dark Prime

Image:Behemoth-logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Billboard chart

Apparently their new album broke into the top 200 recently, entering in at #146. Perhaps we need one of those chart tables?—arf! 23:22, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Added section.

I added a section about the controversy with regards to their alleged banning in their home country due to a certain organization. If anyone feels that this can be improved, please feel free too add.

[edit] Blackened death?

I don't know much about Behemoth, I admit, but I'm pretty sure the stuff they play now sounds to me like death metal pretty much. Very little black metal influence. They still have that imagery but as far as I know, they don't play black metal anymore. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 00:32, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Blackened death. The black metal influence has more to do with their lyrics than anything else. That's why it is blackened death metal and not death metal. Bradman3001 (talk) 00:10, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, then they shouldn't be blackened death! Yes, they use black metal imagery and lyrics (somewhat) but that doesn't make them blackened death metal. It has to be the music. Like Angelcorpse or almost any early Scandinavian black metal band. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:02, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Actually a lot of genre categorization reaches beyond just musical elements. However, it's really useless to argue these things, considering how much bands change over time. Yeah they aren't purely death, and they aren't purely black (not enough symphonic sounds and atmosphere in my opinion), but really, no one cares except the people who associate themselves with such labels. If genres are debated, I don't see why Wikipedia doesn't just list them all, thus showing that a band has elements of certain ones, and are not restricted to one sound (since most bands don't sound the same one album to the next). Btw, The Apostasy is very black (i.e. anti-christian). --Notmyhandle (talk) 08:27, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Listing all possible genres on a band's infobox would create serious edit warring. Anti-Christianity in lyrics doesn't make an album one genre or another. Black metal is about a sound (one that Behemoth doesn't seem to display anymore) not lyrics. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:49, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
