The question of capitalising of the letter "t" in The of The Beatles has been raised again. It appears that UK style references (here and here) also maintains that the letter should be in lower case. If the Project is to be appear professional then it may have to change the format. Polite discussion is invited at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject The Beatles/Policy. If possible, please provide sources/references to support your position.
It has been a fairly quiet time with regard to the Project (or at least that is how it seems). If you are reading this and wondering why your efforts in respect of a Beatles article has not been mentioned, it may be that you haven't told any editor. This is your Newsletter, which means you can contribute to it, so please do! If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy! Lastly, this is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue (Issue 010 – January/February 2007). Any and all contributions are welcome. Hottest issue or concern for this month is the perennial matter of Project articles losing their Good or Featured Article status. The main Project page now includes a status board that gives the current ratings of some of the more important articles. Let's make sure the core articles (The Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr) reach or retain Good Article status, if not Featured Article. If you are aware of another major article whose status is at risk, add it to the board.
Since there has been no response in the matter of the use of lowercase for the initial letter of the when applied with Beatles from the opponents, it is likely that the case for using lowercase only will be adopted as Project policy by default. User:LessHeard vanU will draw up a recommendation and submit it to the Policy talkpage in a few days.
We are pleased to welcome the contributions of Alexcalamaro to this newsletter. Any editor can include an item of interest or news; this medium can be an excellent tool for getting a comment seen by a great number of project members. As it says below, this is your newsletter. If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy!
Lastly, this is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue (Issue 011 – March 2007). Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned, or just start editing!

Hi there!!!!
This may be the LAST The Beatles project newsletter you receive!
Why? Because we believe you are inactive or possibly inactive. If you want to move yourself back to active, and get copies going forward, please remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles/Outreach/Newsletter/PossiblyInactive and add yourself to Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles/Outreach/Newsletter/Active. Thanks for your interest in the project. This may be the last notice you will receive, it depends on whim. ++Larbot - run by User:Lar - t/c 02:45, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Int School
Hi... quick reply. Brilliant you want to improve the page. Citing non-online information is fine ... after all we had numerous people from Socrates to Lennon & Luthor King who never contributed on-line information. I will have a re-look at the school. It does look interesting and I was thinking of the school last week when I spotted/heard some US students looking at a Roman temple in France last week. Do perservere... I will be back (or pester me). 07:30, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Please do not remove references. External references are essential to a decent article, and that is one of the more important external references to this school. It can be stated as "A report in 2004" or something if you really think it's out-of-date, but if you read it carefully, it's reporting *a different statistic* than the IA website.
I really don't see what the problem is. The structure and referencing in the article is largely due to a huge rewrite I did a year ago. Prior to that it had zero referencing and was full of vandalism and other nonsense. I've supported your edits in the past. So what gives? Gimmetrow 02:01, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- I am sorry. But everytime you add those references and re-direct them to a previous reference, it works for a few minutes and then, upon refresh, it says Cite error 8; No text given. That's why I keep deleting the references.
- In addition, with regard to the statistic, it's true that it is accurate for the time, and that the article works for other parts of the website. However, if it is referred to as the first statistic for students obtaining IB degrees, people assume that it is the correct one. I'm a student at the school at about 5 out of each recent (as in, 2006 and 2007) graduating class (which are about 150 students) does not obtain the diploma, so that is closer to the later statistic. While I agree school websites might not be the most accurate places for giving a fair and balanced view of the school, I think the school website is more accurate. However, I support keeping the stat on there if the site makes it clear it was from 2004. Beggarsbanquet (talk) 02:05, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
-
- When you have a named ref, the text has to exist once. If you delete the "definition" then you get the error 8 stuff. The referenced paper is, I think, talking about a different statistic. It says that 88% of those *who enroll* go on to earn an IB degree. Not a percent of those who make it to senior year, but a percent of those who start as first-years. Gimmetrow 02:11, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- Okay. I re-added it anyways. The enrollment information is probably more accurate anyways - a significant number of students return to their sending schools before (or even during) senior year. Beggarsbanquet (talk) 02:13, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
