Begun is located at 24.98° N 75.0° E.^[1] It has an average elevation of 412 metres (1351 feet).

1. It is also one of the oldest town of chittorgarh district.

As of 2001 India census,^[2] Begun had a population of 35,678. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Begun has an average literacy rate of 64%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 61% of the males and 39% of females literate. 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.

From Begun one of the important river goes through is called "Brahmani" river.

Begun also has a fort which is surrounded by a small river.
